Akizuki Sugi no Baba
Beautiful LandscapeCulture & History
This is Akizuki's main street. It used to be a cedar tree (sugi)-lined road and used as a place for training horses (hence the name). It was replanted with cherry blossom trees in the 1900s. A 500m cherry blossom tunnel appears in spring. When the wind blows you can walk through the cherry blossom petals falling like snow. There are several restaurants and shops, so it is an enjoyable place.
*Illuminated only when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.
